You're In The Navy Now

Directed by Henry Hathaway. 93 mins. (1951)

Gary Cooper – Lieutenant John W. Harkness

A newly commissioned naval officer takes command of an experimental submarine chaser staffed by an inexperienced crew, and must learn leadership and ingenuity while navigating mishaps and morale aboard the untested U.S.S. Teakettle.

Also starring Jane Greer, Millard Mitchell, Eddie Albert, John McIntire, Ray Collins, Lee Marvin, and Charles Bronson.

Originally titled U.S.S. Teakettle, the wartime comedy marked the film debuts of both Lee Marvin and Charles Bronson. It received a Writers Guild of America nomination for Best Written American Comedy and reflects the lighthearted morale-boosting military comedies popular in the post-World War II era.
